> CES Philosophy

Crowle Employment Services works on the premise that all individuals have a history that makes them who they are today and have aspirations about who they want to be tomorrow. We believe in the inherent value of all individuals having the opportunity to maximise their vocational participation and integration

For over ten years Crowle Employment Services (CES) has been assisting people with an intellectual disability to develop vocational skills and obtain employment.

We provide a service to people of work age with an intellectual disability who are eligible for support under a:

1. State funded Transition to Work program or
2. Commonwealth funded Open Employment Service.

> Setting Vocational Goals & Developing Skills

CES has developed several Vocational Skills Development Courses, including: Introduction to Work, Workplace Communication, Self advocacy, Interview Techniques and Your Rights at Work, which are run ‘in-house’. Our Vocational Consultants then support you to practice these skills during work experience. At CES we believe the best place to develop the skills you need to work, is at work, through on-the-job training. Work experience provides the opportunity to do just this.

Many of our clients also pursue industry specific training and qualifications through TAFE and other Registered Training Organisations. Our staff are there to assist you with all your training needs.

CES offers a comprehensive Travel Training Program enabling people to independently travel between home and work.

> Transition to Work

A DADHC funded two year Vocational Skills Development program

At CES we identify work experience opportunities that enable you to develop a broad range of general work skills (such as time-keeping, interpersonal skills etc) as well as the specific skills required to achieve your work preference. Our trainers ensure that you receive the ongoing training needed to meet your individual needs.

Skills Development – Our training programs include social skills, anger management, money skills, phone use and personal presentation according to your needs. This can be either via in-house training or through other recognised training providers.

Work Experience – Work experience enables you to practice the skills talked about during training sessions. It also allows you the opportunity to experience a variety of different work settings and industries to help you make a choice about you future worklife.

Vocational Trainer - All our clients are accompanied on work experience by a Vocational Trainer whose role is to ensure you focus on your goals. Work experience is not an activity, it is an opportunity to learn and develop. At the latter stages of skill development we may arrange to reduce our support so you can work independently whilst maintaining the same standard of work. It is an important step in personal development when you realise you no longer need the support of a trainer.

On-the job training - A Vocational Consultant works with the employer, in the vacant position, to ensure CES is fully aware of the employer’s expectations and standards; and learns the safest, fastest way to complete the job.

Traineeships – Where appropriate your Vocational Consultant can help you and your employer enrol in a traineeship. This means you will receive a Nationally Recognised Qualification for the training you undertake to help you with your job.

Maintenance and Co-Worker Training - Once you are fully independent in your job CES will continue to provide you ongoing support through regular check ups. This allows us to ensure you are maintaining your skill level and productivity. We also like to know if there are any changes to your job so we can continue to provide you the training you need.

Productivity Wage Initiatives – Where appropriate your Vocational Consultant will assist you to access productivity based wage initiatives e.g. the supported Wage System.

When I have a problem I tell my trainer and she helps me fix it. Sometimes I ring her too. Having a job is great.” Mark- Admin Assistant.
